The Notebook is about two extreme opposites that fall in love while Allie (Rachel McAdams) and her wealthy family are in New Bern, North Carolina for the summer. This is were she meets Noah (Ryan Gosling) with her cousin and her boyfriend at a fair. Noah dangles from the ferris wheel they are riding asking her to date him but she turns him down until he threatens to release his grip and fall. She agrees, and from then on they fall more and more in love each and everyday spending every second together. Ultimatly Allie and Noah break up and the end of summer nears meaning her and her family are leaving. Desperate she tries to find Noah to say goodbye, but he wasn't at his work where he normally would have been at that time. So Allie tells Noah's friend to relay the message that she has to leave and she loves him. Noah wrote Allie every single day for a year with no response from her. Finally he gave up and stopped writing her. He set out to build the dream house she had always talked about. A two story white house with a wrap around proch and a red door. He did exactly that and him and the new house was pasted on the front of the newspaper that Allie happened to see. When she did she knew what she had to do. She told her fiance that she was leaving for a little while to think and she drove to Noah's. Neither one of them admitted at first but they were still so madly in love with each other. Eventually rekindling there young love. One early morning Allie was laying in bed and heard a knock on the door. Flinging open the door to find her mom standing there. Her mom admitted to keeping the 365 letters Noah had wrote to her. After that Allie knew what she had to do. She ended it with her fiance back home and lived happily after with Noah.
Yes Allie and Noah lived very happy for a very long time until she developed amnesia and could no longer remember anything. Not her husband not her grandchildren children nothing. So everyday Noah reads to her at the nursing home about the story of their lives from an old Notebook that she had wrote just in case something would happen. All the while he was hoping that she would remember something special like she seldomly did. One night Noah just felt he needed her. So he walked down to her room and to his surprise she remembered. She remembered everything and so they layed there together happy and once again so in love. They died the same night happy and together.
What I love most about this movie is the fact that it is full of so much love and definitly shows the more hopeless romantic side of life that I love to see.
